We went to
Toa Payoh today to look around for furniture.
The 1st store we went to offered us $3,388 for a L-shape sofa set, coffee table, TV console, dining table + 4 chairs. Its considered expensive for only living room and dining area furniture, but you could tell from the design and make that these were good quality stuff.
We were considering to get the package and maybe source for bedroom set
separately. But since its only the first store we visited, we decided to view a few others first before deciding especially since the lady said no expiry for this offer to us.
So we headed to Novena Furniture which Hubby said there's a sale going on this weekend. The 1st level designs didn't really catch much of my attention and I was actually quite disappointed. We went up to level 2 and there were more designs to view!
We shopped there for like maybe 2 hours? The guy attending to us was Alvin and he was a nice, friendly guy who answered all my queries and who bothered to check stuff for me right away. He was attentive but not pushy and could make recommendations/advice to us. This is what I call good customer service (though his title is product specialist
lah)!
In the end we got one of the packages they had and topped up a bit because the bedroom set costs more (I seriously have no idea why things I choose/like always more expensive)... Total damage: $2,987.00
Here's what we got:
Black Leather L-Shape Sofa which comes with cushions: $599
Coffee Table which comes with 2 stools: $399
Black TV console: $199
Black Glass Dining Table + 4 black leather chairs: $899
Bedroom Set (2-door sliding wardrobe + dressing table & stool + queen size
bed frame with storage drawers + bedside table): Original - $1,488, after discount - $1,199
The total should be $3,295 but what they did was take one of the package which consists of sofa+coffee table+dining set ($1.6+ K I think) and add the bedroom set to it. So we have so-called savings of $300+.
Anyway, since its still cheaper than the first store, we decided to take it.
As our paints are not painted and floors not varnished yet, we will ask them to deliver around end May. Didn't manage to take pics of the furniture we bought, so can't wait to receive it all!
Most of the stuff we chose are black, haha... So I suppose we have to paint the house one of the off-white colours so that the house will not look so dark. Left only the study room and 2nd bedroom to be furnished, but that can wait. Next items on the list will be a fridge, washing machine, shoe cabinet and some electrical appliances. =)
Tomorrow we will be hunting for the wedding bands, the rings that will bind us as husband and wife forever! Appointment with Clarity at 2.30pm, hope we can find something nice and affordable~
